| Representation : |
Democracy is for the people, of the people, and by the people. However, there is a community of Indians who hardly have any representation in the Government formation i.e. the Non Resident Indians. If ever they have been made to sit in the Parliament, it is only in the Upper House. They should have their voice heard in the House of People (Lok Sabha) as well. NRIs worldwide should unite to fight for their rights and send their representatives to convey their voice to the Government. The community is resourceful enough to serve their homeland but it can be even more appropriate if they are involved in governance. The community through their representatives can pool in their international experience to implement plans for the development of our society. NRIs are always looked upon for their huge monetary resources but now the community has to show that it is not only money they can contribute but also their knowledge, experience and international links for the betterment of our country.
Your Role
The NRI community has to play multiple roles in the development process of India. We know NRIs play a very important role for the country in a foreign land. They have the power to build a strong base in their own country of birth too. They can help our countrymen adopt new and better ways of doing things. NRIs get the exposure to different cultures of the world which can definitely help our nation develop strong emotional bonding. Their guidance is of immense importance in building our nation stronger.
Voice
Most of the NRIs may not have the power to vote in an election. But all of them, we know, would like to see a Vibrant, Dynamic India and do many a things which help improve the society they have left behind. I think the NRIs should be given the proper platform to voice their concern and advice. Having stayed major part of my life abroad and having traveled all across the world, I believe I can truly understand the feelings and aspirations of the NRIs. I believe I can, lend a voice to the NRIs and bring them closer to their motherland.
