Dr. Amitabha Sen has the unique professional distinction of having licenses to practice Law and Engineering both in India and California. Alumini of Ballygunge Govt. High School,
Belur Ramakrishna Mission Vidyamandir, Calcutta University Blue and the Best Sportsman of the Year, Dr. Sen completed his Bachelor in Civil Engineering from the Bengal
Engineering College, Shibpur, University of Calcutta, in 1963. He was the recipient of the National Research Council Operating Grant from Canada and received the degree of Master
of Science in Civil Engineering in 1967. Thereafter, while working full-time as an engineer in San Francisco, California, Dr. Sen obtained his MBA (highest scholastic standing
awardee) and JD (Doctor of Jurisprudence) degrees.
Dr. Sen was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1979. He is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers of the State of California, the Supreme Court Bar Association of India, Delhi High Court Bar Association, International Trademark Association (INTA), International Bar Association (IBA), Inter Pacific Bar Association (IPBA) and Asian Patent Attorneys Association (APAA). A prolific speaker and a writer, Dr. Sen has written numerous legal articles in various international journals and has been a frequent panelist in many seminars.
Dr. Sen has worked as Engineer, Senior Engineer, Project Manager and Assistant to Vice President in various companies like BBJ, Kuljian, Dominion Bridge, Associated Engineering Services, Bechtel, International Engineering Company and Morrison Knudsen in India, Canada and the U.S. He was the Chief Civil Engineer for L.K. Comstock & Company, a major construction company in San Francisco USA, in the 80s and has worked on a number of construction projects including, but not limited to, mining, coal preparation, iron ore palletizing, nuclear, hydro and thermal power plants all around the globe.
At present, Dr. Sen is a full time practicing attorney in India. Amitabha Sen & Co, a full service general practice law firm, was established in the year 1997 and specializes in representing the interests of corporates as well as individuals in India.
